Use Affects Functioning

The AT is well known in helping people with back pains and other strain and stress related problems like RSI, tendonitis, wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, migraine etc.

The power of the Alexander Technique lies in becoming aware of the psychophysical (mind and body) habitual way of how we use ourselves in our daily activities, and therefore it offers a long term help.

Sometimes there is a need for a more radical and quicker fix of the problem than what the Alexander Technique provides. Other treatments and medical care can be discussed with and recommended by the AT teacher. However if we don’t change the habitual use of ourselves, which in most cases lies in the origin of the problem, the complaint will usually reappear or change form.

Body - Mind unity

The Alexander Technique can be used for reducing stress, fears and helping people with burn out and depression. This can also be done in combination with psychotherapy.

In the Alexander Technique a human is seen as a psychophysical whole where the body and mind cannot be separated in any activity.

Body Recovery

This video was produced as part of a major research study published in the British Medical Journal showing the effectiveness of the Alexander Technique for back pain sufferers.

“You translate everything, weather physical, mental or spiritual, into muscular tension.”

F.M. Alexander (1869-1955)

"97% of people with back pain could benefit by learning the Alexander Technique - it is only a very small minority of back pain sufferers that require medical intervention such as surgery."
